Everything You Need To Know About Choosing An Outdoor Table

A table is often the most prominent and focal piece of an outdoor area. It’s a place of gathering with loved ones, a platform for entertaining and marking celebrations and occasions, or relaxing one-on-one or alone after a long day. It really is the centrepiece for a lot of eventfulness and often sets the tone for the rest of an outdoor space’s style, which is why it is important you choose the right one.

With that in mind, there are many different outdoor tables on the market, so how do you weigh up all the deciding factors and decide which one is right for you? We’ve put together a simple guide with everything you need to know.

Teak

Teak is one of the most popular and durable choices of wood for outdoor furniture and is one that has been used across the globe for centuries. Not only does teak look beautiful, but it is high in oil and silica, meaning it doesn’t corrode when accompanied by metals and other materials.

At Remarkable Furniture, we stock a range of outdoor side, dining, bar tables and trolleys in teak, make from A-grade materials set to endure the toughest of weather. Teak is 100% maintenance-free and looks better with age. If you wish to wash down your teak, simply use warm water and a small amount of vinegar.

Merbau (Kwila)

Merbau – also known as Kwila – is a popular and highly durable timber. Similarly to teak, Merbau is a very oily timber, naturally producing Tannin to make it ideal for outdoor spaces. It’s rich textures and finishes make it a popular choice for resort-style and nature-inspired décor, and it is widely renowned for its use in high-quality outdoor decks.

At Remarkable Furniture, we proudly stock a plethora of Merbau tables, from our cube range, to our side buffets, through to our extension tables. Ask us about our concrete and glass top Merbau tables too!

Aluminium

Aluminium is a sleek, maintenance-free, affordable and incredibly versatile option in the outdoor table realm. Timeless, sturdy and stylish, you can’t go wrong with aluminium, particularly as it contrasts so well with most timbers. Suitable in most climates or environments, aluminium generally doesn’t corrode or rust, and any potential oxidization can be kept to a minimum with some occasional cleaning with warm, soapy water (a gentle detergent is fine).

Stone & Concrete

Stone and concrete tables are wonderfully unique, with their modernist look-and-feel making them easy to blend into a variety of outdoor themes. They are substantially durable, weathering whatever Mother Nature has in store for them all year round. They can be mixed and matched with different styles of chairs, allowing you to customise your own style – ask us about blending concrete table legs (timber, stainless steel, powder-coated etc.) with chairs of your choice.
