Our steel frame furniture is finished with polyester powder coating to prevent rusting, also providing protection from UV damage. Steel's hard-wearing nature makes it capable of withstanding the rigors of outdoor use. The polyester powder coating does not protect against scratches or other damages. Minor scratches and marks are a sign of frequent use and is to be expected. Based on material properties, steel frame furniture, will show signs of rusting, if coating has peel off, due to damage to the surface. This can also occur in the joins, weld surface areas and bolts, where the metal has been exposed. These areas require extra attention for any damages to the coating that could have occured while tightening the hardware, etc., potentially these areas to the weather and making them more susceptible to rust. Chlorine and salty sea air, are steel's biggest enemy, and can cause a type of corrosion that is known as pitting. For this reason, the ideal place for steel furniture is undercover on your patio or under a shaded area (not subject to rain). If the product is to be placed in a highly saline environment (e.g. in seaside areas, swimming pool), all metal surfaces should be gently washed regularly, to avoid build-up of corrosive salts that could damage the product overtime.
